As someone who has walked 300 miles in 18 days while walking the Camino de Santiago de Compostela, I am truly impressed! Well done!
  • Dear Brian and Matt,
My name is Carolyn, I'm a friend of Brian's mother, and we took a walk in support of you here in Tamil Nadu, India. Want to put a photo for you but am not sure how this works. (Since it asks for website below, the pictures are there.)
We are thinking of you as you make this very long journey.
    Best regards,
    Carolyn and Krishna Gopalan

    Matt,
We were talking to our Tai Chi teacher tonight and he suggested that you have three pair of shoes. One for level ground, one with a wedge that builds up the front of your shoe, for down hill and one that builds up the heel of your shoe, for up hill. Don't know if that would work but suppose it is worth a try.
Good to hear from you tonight.
    Love, Mom

Sheila was discussing with aunt Theresa and uncle John, the pains you are experiencing. They said, independent of each other, the the pain you reported, etc., may be due to a decrease in hemoglobin. Specifically, there could be a physical breakdown of blood cells in the bottom of your feet due to the excessive walking. In effect, you may be anemic. They indicated that this is not life threatening but you definitely need to listen, and respond to what your body is telling you, and rest so as to restore normal blood content. Also, they indicated it would be helpful to eat more red meat. John stated it would be helpful to ask for advice through this wedsite since there are probably a lot of runners out there with running experience who can offer some suggestions. Love Dad.

    Matt,
I contacted the Susan G. Korman offices, Race for the Cure, in Sacramanto and Portland and gave them your website so trying to keep spreading the word.
    Stay strong.
    Love, Mom
